What do I like about her? What DON&#8217;T I like about her? She&#8217;s a homeschooling crafty mama in the woods of Maine with Waldorf tendencies and she&#8217;s written two books about creativity and the home (<em>Handmade Home<\/em> and The <em>Creative Family<\/em>). And while she is quick to remind us that neither she nor her family are perfect &#8211; she takes care to delight in her family, instead of complain. I like that.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nathensmiraculousescape.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><span style=\"color:#003366;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/i108.photobucket.com\/albums\/n18\/womantalk\/nathen.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"130\" height=\"86\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a>My friend Nathen Lester has started his own blog called <a href=\"http:\/\/nathensmiraculousescape.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nathen&#8217;s Miraculous Escape<\/a>. He investigates ideas deeply and is interested in many things: swing dancing, writing and performing music, healthy intimate relationships, honesty, physical and emotional health &#8211; the list goes on.\u00c2\u00a0 Besides the fact that he is my husband&#8217;s oldest and closest friend, and the eldest son of one of MY closest friends, Darlene (you can see her blog below), I am always interested in what he has to say.<\/p>\n<div class=\"snap_preview\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"float:left;\" src=\"http:\/\/i108.photobucket.com\/albums\/n18\/womantalk\/flann.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"97\" height=\"65\" \/>For those of you like me, who were dismayed when Laura\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s blog, blue heliotrope, dropped off the radar, she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s back, reborn as a mother; blog name: <a href=\"http:\/\/ilpiccolino.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">il piccolino<\/a>. Laura and I wrote and illustrated countless stories together as kids and then, as now, reading her turns of phrase make me jealous! (And want to read more\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6)<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/corrinacorrina.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i11.photobucket.com\/albums\/a160\/corrina222\/Corrina07avatar.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"72\" height=\"93\" align=\"left\" \/><strong>corrinacorrina<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; Corrina not only has a great writing voice and good dose of sly humor, but she&#8217;s also a photographer and has a lyrical, light visual sense as well. An essay of hers was published in <a title=\"takes you to the amazon site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Book-Your-Church-Doesnt-Want\/dp\/0978721381\/ref=sr_1_1\/103-1312034-6555862?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1191180046&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Book Your Church Doesn&#8217;t Want You to Read<\/em><\/a>. She also happens to be my sister-in-law.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dooce.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dooce.com\/images\/me_small.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"40\" height=\"40\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a> Heather B. Armstrong over at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dooce.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">dooce.com<\/a><\/strong> is a well-known blogger who actually supports her family with her blogging. She gained early notoriety when she was caught anonymously blogging wickedly biting criticism about her boss and co-workers six years ago. Although she is widely known as a mama blogger because she frequently writes about parenting her extra-sensitive daughter, Leta, she writes equally well about design and mental health. I find I crave the way she so honestly relates what&#8217;s going on in her life and how she peppers them with mind-bending analogies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/flavorgirl.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i108.photobucket.com\/albums\/n18\/womantalk\/12-29-06_1408.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"120\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>Maya at <a href=\"http:\/\/flavorgirl.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>JT Homestead<\/strong><\/a> posts irregularly, but her sweet voice and insights are worth waiting for. If Maya had a superperson identity, it would be Flavorgirl. She used to work as a personal chef and her cooking (and recipes) kick ass.  She and her husband are interested in sustainable living and community-building. They nurture and work the earth in an amazing garden just outside their living room window. She and her husband used to be my neighbors in Joshua Tree.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lestermom.livejournal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i108.photobucket.com\/albums\/n18\/womantalk\/08-20-06_2130.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>Darlene Lester at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/lestermom.livejournal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Darlene&#8217;s Good Life<\/a><\/strong> gives the best parenting advice of anybody I have ever met. She has raised five boys to be remarkable men and has been married nearly forty years to a musician (no easy feat). Caution: she speaks her mind and her ideas are far from mainstream. She likes to pepper her posts with lots of exclamation marks. She is a dear, dear friend.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/littlemissc.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/bp1.blogger.com\/_2LVJBc5fYOQ\/Rtnx9aWJtfI\/AAAAAAAAAvY\/vyb5J-P2vFA\/s320\/IMG_5628.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"120\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a> Mama T and I went to McGill together. She used to be a librarian but now she&#8217;s now a stay-at-home mom and frequently blogs about her daughters&#8217; antics at &#8220;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/littlemissc.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Life Changes After Birth<\/a><\/strong>.&#8221; She writes concisely and frequently about living sustainably, TV obsessions, budgeting within her husband&#8217;s income, and reading. Her daughters&#8217; names are Clara Roan and Pippa Rue &#8211; does that not make you think Mama T is cool? She also posts her recipes at <a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithmamat.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithmamat.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">C<\/a>ooking with Mama T.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#003366;\">Blogs I&#8217;m Checking Out<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/oneskein.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">One Skein<\/a> &#8211; inspired by the book of the same name, you can find pics, directions, and inspiration for everything between knitted cupcakes and felted bowls.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color:#003366;\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong>Southern California Art<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artforum.com\/guide\/country=US&amp;place=Los%20Angeles\" target=\"_blank\">ArtForum&#8217;s LA art guide<\/a> &#8211; a comprehensive listing of galleries and museums with exhibition listings and links.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artforum.com\/diary\/\" target=\"_blank\">ArtForum Diary<\/a> &#8211; ArtForum.com&#8217;s LA art gossip column with photos of lots of art celebrities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/flavorpill.net\/artguide\/\" target=\"_blank\">Flavorpill<\/a> &#8211; does a web-based art guide in five cities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theartnewspaper.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Art Newspaper<\/a> &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/the-flog.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Flog.<\/a> &#8211; an art blog run by Frette, an LA-based artist and now Culver-city gallery owner. She started the blog as a way to start exploring her 100-volume cookbook collection, and now is getting her own cookbook published.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color:#003300;\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong>Losing Weight Renegade WW-style<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>*These links are also listed under the <strong>Eaten<\/strong> page<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.restaurantpoints.com\/in-and-out-burger\/\" target=\"_blank\">restaurantpoints.com<\/a> will give the ww points for meals from several dozen popular chain restaurants, from Applebee&#8217;s to Starbucks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocities.com\/core_food\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Core Food List<\/a> &#8211; this lists all the foods for the ww core food program (where you can eat as much as you want as long as you don&#8217;t stray from the list).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mamarant.blogs.com\/mamacooks\/weight_watchers\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">thismamacooks<\/a> has lots of ww recipes.<\/p>\n<p>This blog, <a href=\"http:\/\/deutschbabe.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">deutschbabe<\/a>, got off to a good start, but then fizzled. There are a handful a good ww tofu recipes here (but that&#8217;s all).<\/p>\n<p>An online ww point calculator at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webmilhouse.com\/pointcalc.php\" target=\"_blank\">webmilhouse.com<\/a>. We&#8217;ll see how long it lasts; ww is pretty proprietorial about their material.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color:#003300;\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong>Blogging Help by Bloggers<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lorelle.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lorelle on WordPress<\/a> is not only a blogger who has published two books on the subject, but she specifically examines every facet of blogging on wordpress.
