A reason to visit MoMA<\/a> while in NYC next month: Brice Marden retrospective. n.b. Must remember to borrow my friend’s membership card. There is a write-up of the exhibit here<\/a>, but it talks more about Marden’s multiple property holdings around the world than the show itself. I also want to catch a video by Finnish artist Eija-Liisa Ahtila; two are new acquisitions for MoMA<\/strong>. Paula Deitz writes about her films here<\/a>.
\nChad says he wants to see the U.N. building<\/strong> and visit the Met.<\/strong> (Holland Cotter likes the ancient scroll exhibit there right now. He says so here<\/a>. He likes “Americans in Paris: 1860-1900” less<\/a>, but it still sounds worth seeing.) Chad also says he wants to walk around a lot, but that’s a given.<\/p>\n

A few other potential free art walk-bys:
\n1. Sarah Morris: Robert Towne<\/em> at Lever House<\/strong><\/a> (Public Art Fund<\/a>) @ Park Avenue between 53rd and 54th Streets. Robert Towne wrote the screenplays for Chinatown<\/em> (1974) and Shampoo<\/em> (1975) among other things.<\/p>\n

2. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Ehon: The Artist and the Book in Japan\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/a> at the New York Public Library<\/strong>. Although if we stop there, we invariably stop by the used library bookstore across the street and buy pounds and pounds of books to drag home.<\/p>\n
