Another satisfying day in the city. Bella’s greatest interest was getting to the Abercrombie and Fitch store on Fifth Avenue, so we made a deal to go to the Jewish Museum<\/a> first for the Masters of American Comics exhibit. All in all, the show was disappointing, but still enjoyable. That is, the show tried to be the second half of a survey show intending to create a comic book art history timeline (the first half of the show was pre-WWII and was across the river in Newark), and ended up being a little show with lofty ambition. To begin with, how can a survey of fourteen comic strip artists constitute a survey of an entire genre? Yes, the greats were represented (except Art Spiegalman bowed out for the duration of the exhibit’s travels), and it was exciting and fascinating to see original artwork – but there simply wasn’t enough there. Alex Katz paints Ada was slightly better.
\nThen we spent several hours visiting with friends in Brooklyn and meeting their brand-new human: Luca. Welcome Luca! I spent a few delicious hours snuggling that very beautiful boy.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the evening was walking over and having pizza at Grimaldi’s<\/a>, which has won the zagat’s award for the best pizzeria in NYC for the last SIX years. We ordered two large pizzas for 3 1\/2 people and finished every bit. ‘Nuff said. The photo above was taken from the promenade in Brooklyn Heights while walking to dinner.<\/p>\n
