\nOn Sunday morning
\nyou would rise early,
\nforgo the heat in our
\nbed, shower, shave electrically
\nand leave. I thought that meant
\nyou loved truth, goodness, and
\nme, your lover.<\/p>\n
\nsimplicity of what your love
\naffair with Jesus might mean.
\nI believed, through the thin
\nelasticity of what our drive
\nfor devotion
\nmight express, turning aside
\nfrom the impulse to deride,
\ndismiss, dissimulate.
\nAll my good intentions for you.<\/p>\n
\nand upheld its urgent message.
\nYou would cite slowly,
\nextol its trenchant wisdom.
\nBut your lust would not be
\ntamed by its dark injunctions
\nand your taut appetite prevailed.<\/p>\n
\nYou awoke, swung out of bed,
\nglanced in the mirror at your
\nsleek head of hair, the jadeite eyes,
\nquickly stroked your sac
\nand found the image pleasing.
\nYou thought, Jesus loves me<\/em>,
\nas I thought you loved me too.
\nDismiss, dissimulate,
