We are heading off once again to OC. Tomorrow my only child flies to the East Coast to spend some time at her grandparents’ house, and then off to France for a week. Sue and Joss planned a week’s vacation at a large farmhouse in Limoges<\/a> (sleeps 12) and invited all the family to come and join them. It is mostly Joss’ family from the UK coming, but my parents and Bella will join them for laidback days by the pool, horseback riding and trout fishing (?!)<\/p>\n

I will stay at home and desperately write as much as humanly possible before the school year, and hence my new job begins. Actually, I think eight hours a day – every day she is gone, is what I will be able to manage. Yesterday I only spent four hours on Bourriaud and today only one hour on S:on: Sound in Contemporary Canadian Art<\/i> edited by Nicole Gringras. People seem to be crazy about this guy R. Murray Schaffer. I am getting caught\u00c2\u00a0 up on the Canadian sound scene. slowly.<\/p>\n

I spent the rest of today fiddling around the house nervously and fielding calls from my new boss. And bringing a load of stuff to the thrift store. And finding my daughter’s passport. It’s a scary feeling to get prepared to dive into the writing part- my stomach doesn’t feel good. I think I am more worried about the writing I am facing, than my 12-year daughter flying out of LAX by herself… or maybe it’s all the worries mixed together.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
