I’ve found it very curious to see how people react to the idea of a $3,000 ring. Some people seem to think I’m selling myself short, and others think I’m selling out – they can’t believe that I would be so materialistic (please, have you seen my closet?)<\/p>\n
Well, seeing that I can be a spendthrift and Chad can be a penny pincher – it took many long discussions to negotiate that price. In fact, we started at $2,000 a couple years ago and to increase the amount we could spend, I agreed to forego any birthday and Christmas presents for the duration. That was fine, until after a second birthday without a gift came and went. Without warning I started to feel resentment. I had baked my own birthday cake – he could’ve remembered the birthday candles. There are plenty of free gifts, after all. Even a card would have been nice. It ended in tears. My own naturally.<\/p>\n
The next time I saw him, he gave me a gift he says he’s been working on since he’s met me. I thought I’d share them here – song lyrics are bound to become public sooner or later (and I’d rather be known for this song than the other one he wrote for me – “Knife Toes” which, I hear is circulating right now…)<\/p>\n
