leo rising

Last week Chad’s sister gave me two elementary school pics of Chad and his astrological chart. I had his chart read by my friend last night and I’m going to try and summarize what I remember here. It would be nice if I could scan the baby pics too, but that might be too much to ask for.

Hmmm. I don’t know much about astrology, so it’s hard for me to remember particulars. An astrological chart, or at least the one Darlene uses, is a circle divided into twelve pie slices. The line splitting the circle horizontally represents the horizon. There are symbols and degrees written into the various sections, some more than others. Chad’s chart had almost everything below the horizon, and most were in the third house, which represents deep thinking, learning, information, research and teaching (he happens to be a librarian, and he is definitely an information guy, especially when it comes to music, movies and books). His chart shows somebody who is very grounded and “earthy.”

The general shape of Chad’s chart was a basket (like Nathen’s) – that is, most of his houses were clustered together at the bottom, with one handle at the top in Saturn. Darlene said that channeled a lot of energy into Saturn which rules time. Basically this chart indicated somebody for whom the passage of time, slowness and thoroughness, and planning is very important. That sounds like Murdy time to me.

He and I both have stuff going on in the house of communication – but we communicate in very different ways. I communicate more on the surface and generally (superficially) and he is more involved with details. A similar thing happened in the house of work – where he is very much a by-the-book kind of guy, and I have Uranus in the house of work which indicates a person who is more likely to challenge and provoke change. Overall Darlene thought that our charts were much more compatible than she would have anticipated. I think that probably is true; we have more in common than people first see, because on the surface I appear so much more social and flighty. Despite our apparent differences, we don’t have any trouble communicating.
He is Leo rising, which indicates a leader type, but not in a flashy way. ( I, on the other hand, have leadership stuff in the house of Capricorn, which is more “look at me! look at me!) Leo can also show a theatrical bent – but the rising sign is often more revealed in childhood. Chad is still a ham, but he reserves a lot of that for his family – note the silly look on his face in the picture above. (Btw, that third house with the preponderence of symbols? it’s also the house representing siblings.)

It was fun thinking about Chad and talking about him all afternoon.
