Understanding Installation Art by Mark Rosenthal is the worst art book I have ever read, great photos not withstanding.
Speaking of great photos of installation art, my new favorite thesis break activity is planning a month-long car trip, which includes seeing Mount Rushmore (for my kid), Walter De Maria’s The Lightning Field (1977) and Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty (1970) (for me) and passing through Calgary (Banff and Lake Louise) and heading back down the coast to So Cal.
I hope Installation Art in the New Millennium will be better, otherwise I will be forced to stop doing research and to begin writing..
