moment of respite

As much as I enjoyed seeing everybody over the holidays this year – I particularly relished this quiet stolen hour spent hiking along the Potomac River our first morning in Virginia. Chad and I never found the actual Great Falls Park, but River Bend Park was free and nobody was around. (It’s a boat launching site during the summer.) I got in trouble later for borrowing my brother’s friend’s beemer without permission (my brother was asleep! my mother told me to! it was fun!), but it was worth it. And darn it, if I hadn’t said anything – nobody would have even known.
