soccer mom

It has finally happened. After five years of avoiding it, I finally volunteered to be the team soccer mom. That means I type up a contact list and game schedule, organize a snack list, order a banner and plan the end of the season party in November. It’s not so bad. Kinda fun actually to make the decision about how the banner should look.

I like passing out information.

This year, three of the eight U14 teams have names with the word “angel” in them: The Sky Angels, Blue Angels, and The Red Hot Angels. Two have to do with food: The Banana Splits and the Sweet Tarts (that’s a good one). One is a totally girlie color: Pink Fuscia and the last two are just aspiring to be cool: The Pirettes and Rip Curls.

Last year’s pre-pre-pubescent names were Hot Shots, Dragons, The (Grape Balls of) Fire, Silver Bullets, Hot Shots, The Yellow Jackets and The Force.

Sounds like the girls have hit middle school. Goodbye childhood.
